For The 30 And Under Crowd

I came across the Penny Foolish blog, written by Kira, a young recent college grad just starting out on her financial education. What caught my eye was the Festival of Under 30 Finances she is putting together. (More info here.) She is soliciting articles about financial issues relevant to people under 30 years old. I think this is a great idea and I hope it is a success! If you have something relevant to contribute, please submit it to her.

Wow, thank you! =) I'm glad you like the idea!

I think some of the RE bloggers could give some great advice to those of us considering rent vs buy, or buying a first house.. it is a scary world.

Hi Shaun,

Viridian from Fliperati here. I just noticed that somebody is aggregating many of the posts from your blog, mine, and a bunch of others on another blog. I wasn't asked for permission and I'm guessing you weren't either. I'm guessing that you wouldn't be happy about it either. Check it out at http://realestateinvestor(-dot-)aviiva(*-dot-*)com/

Viridian -

That's plain weird. There are several posts of mine on the main page, which I wasn't given permission to use, but the whole thing is hard to read since it's a mixture of posts from other boards. Not sure what they are trying to accomplish with this site as each of us have different things going on in our lives at any moment.

I think the goal is probably to get a constant stream of real estate chatter (even if it doesn't necessarily mesh since we're all working on our own individual projects) to attract search engine hits and get a large volume of traffic, at which point they will probably begin selling advertising. I suppose it could be lucrative if they get enough traffic -- and extremely easy since they aren't generating any original content. I haven't had any luck getting in touch with the actual site administrator...

I noticed that site a long time ago in my referrer logs. I suspect the site's owner is Elliott Back. Most of the sites he plagarizes from are also in my blogroll, so I'm sure he's just gathering REI posts. He's got a link to some pay-per-post blog thing, so he's probably stealing our posts, adding his name to the credits, and trying to earn money off of them.
